Observations:
• Hardware fails because it can. Software isn't perfect because it is created by the same group of life-forms responsible for the phrases 'human error' and ‘whoops’
Accept this

• Eventually your hardware will give up and/or your software will need upgrading
At some point you'll have to spend some money
Accept this, too

• When all else fails - RTFM!

• If it's going to happen, it'll happen after 4pm on a Friday afternoon
Murphy's Law #1.....

• The closer the deadline, the bigger the crash
Murphy's Law #2.....

• The more you cram into your hard disk, the more you will lose

• Sod's Law #53: You are more likely to suffer excruciating data loss than win Lotto.
You do make multiple regular backups of all your really important stuff, don't you? In the words of dear old George Dubya: “We are ready for any unseen event that may or may not occur...”

• Information Technology is neither an art form nor an exact science - it is mostly an exercise in finger crossing and the prolonged holding of breath. When it works, there is a collective sigh of relief and look of disbelief. When it doesn't, apparently ‘it’s never done that before’, ‘it just happened’, ‘it was fine yesterday’, ‘I haven’t touched anything’ or ‘someone must have done something to it’
Either way, you should feel special....
